Residents of Buasu-Kwame-Pinsang Electoral Area in the Wenchi Municipality of the Bono Region have been compelled to share the only source of water in the area with animals.
This is due to the lack of an operational bore hole in the area.
Confirming the development in an interview, an assembly member of the electoral area, Emmanuel Dekyi said the situation worsens during the dry season
According to him, the construction of some boreholes in four villages within the area have also been halted.
The affected villages are Kannease No1., Kannease, Gambia, Atakorakurom, Osei Kurom, Dan Nyame, Nyame bekyere and Pretua.
He appealed to government, non-governmental organisations, and philanthropists to come to the aid of the affected communities by providing potable water.
This, according to him, will go a long way to enhance the health condition of residents living in the area.
Meanwhile, Sustainable Development Goal six which Ghana is a signatory expects member nations to ensure access to water and sanitation for all by 2030.
