Kwesi Ernest and Mark Okraku Mantey

Entertainment pundit Kwesi Ernest says Mark Okraku-Mantey has invested too much into Ghana's Creative Arts industry to fail the country's creatives if he should become the Deputy Minister for the Tourism, Arts and Culture ministry.

Speaking on Showbiz Now on Joy Prime, he explained that Mr Okraku Mantey while serving as President of the Creative Art Agency exhibited an in-depth understanding of what the arts industry needed and established the requisite structures needed to help it grow.

"Okraku Mantey for the last 4 years was the Creative Arts President. He came and championed for the structures we need for the creative arts space to be established and even making sure that the Creative Arts bill is passed.

"He even made sure the Creative Arts Bill was passed. We have also been told that law now will give birth to everything that will propel the creative art space the growth," Kwesi Ernest told the host, Ibrahim Ben-Bako.

The CEO of Media Excel said he is surprised some industry persons are kicking against Mr Okraku Mantey's the appointment to the ministry.

He added that the standard Mr Okraku Mantey has established in the creative arts space will make it impossible for him to disappoint Ghanaians as a deputy minister of the industry.

Kwesi Ernest also believes that his nomination as deputy minister is as a result of all the work he has put into the creative art space over the years.

"Okraku Mantey, as we speak now, the yardstick he has placed [and] the mandate he as established means that cannot look into the eyes of the Ghanaian creative arts space and disappoint us. He cannot fail!"

"[Because] if he fails he cannot come into the political space again. That is why I am calling for us to give him our support because where he is," he added.

This, Ernest continued, will "force him (Okraku Mantey) to deliver".

The pundit also called out Shatta Wale who has publicly expressed his displeasure at the push for Mr Okraku Mantey's nomination as deputy minister for the industry.

In an Instagram live, Shatta Wale stated that the Slip Entertainment CEO was not the right person for the industry.

However, Kwesi Ernest said it will be in Shatta Wale's interest as well as the industry as a whole if he supports Mr Okraku Mantey.

“I am using this my point to tell Shatta Wale where ever he is that today he should change his mind about Okraku Mantey and rather give him the support."
