The leadership of the Senior Staff Association - Universities of Ghana (SSA-UoG) has given government a 48-hour ultimatum to settle all outstanding Tier-2 contributions accrued its members.
In a press release signed by National Chairman of the Association, Mohammed Zakaria indicated that all members should lay down their tools until further notice.
The Association's decision to boycott all academic works stems from government's failure to comply with the National Labour Commission's directives of October 28, 2020.
According to the Association, government has acted in "bad faith" to meet the requirements presented before it.
"The National Executive Council and by extension the entire membership of our Union is gravely disappointed in government's handling of our concerns," he added.
National Chairman Mohammed Zakaria indicated that members of the Association would not resume official duties until the "non-negotiable" requests are granted.
The leadership of the Senior Staff Association is demanding a better condition of service and the full payment of outstanding Tier-2 contributions.
In addition: "We also expect Government to act fairly towards the Senior Staff Cadre, by extending the Interim Market Premium and Non-basic Allowance to all members of our union without further delay."
Meanwhile, the leadership of the Association has thrown a word of caution to Management of public universities to desist from "ugly acts" that intimidate its members.
