In line with President Akufo-Addo's announcement on the reopening of schools, government promised to provide schools with PPEs to ensure the safety of the children from coronavirus while in school.
Unfortunately, some schools in Walewale are yet to receive the covid-19 PPEs which was promised to them by the Government.
While touring some schools in Walewale, it was observed that most of the students reported to school this morning without face masks and they disregarded the practice of social distancing.
Some of these students say they do not have money to buy face masks and are looking forward to their schools to provide them with one.
At the Nurul Islam primary school, the headmaster, Inusah Seidu, expressed worry over the situation.
He also expressed concern over the challenge of the lack of desks in the school, a situation he anticipated would potentially hamper the practice of social distancing.
"We need more chairs for the children to sit on, because as at now, three students use one desk and some of them do not even have a place to sit, so to practice social distancing, it means one person has to use a desk and that is even going to be another problem," Mr Seidu said.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has indicated that schools have been paired with health facilities in the event of any positive case.
Rapid Response Teams are also at the ready as a contingency measure.
