An interest group, the Concerned Industry Players in Kumasi is asking for continuity of activities at the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry to foster development.
At a press briefing in Kumasi, the group said changes at the Ministry have stagnated many developmental projects.
“The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture (MoTAC) is one of the ministries that has not seen stability in our recent political discourse, and a little has been achieved as a result,” said Samuel Agyepong, the convener of the group.
“We have also observed that it takes about two years for an appointed minister to really know, understand and get acclimatized at the Ministry.
“However, enough time is given to the said minister to implement projects and programmes before he or she is either changed or ends the term in office. This has caused underachievement at our Ministry”.
The group wants President Akufo-Addo to appoint ministers who are already familiar with the businesses of the ministry.
“In view of this, it is our humble opinion that as the President is about to appoint a new minister to our Ministry, he appoints someone who has knowledge about our industry.
"Someone who is familiar with the various domains that fall under the ministry so that the Minister so appointed can hit the ground running.
“There are a lot of lingering projects and issues at our sector that need immediate attention to make his 2nd term and the NPP administration very successful to the tourism and the creative industries.
“It is our wish that this humble plea would receive consideration from President Nana Akufo-Addo,” said the group said.
