Hundreds of people have been rendered homeless after an inferno swept through Dagomline Line, a slum in Kumasi.
The wooden shacks that also serve as homes for some of these people were completely burnt to the ground in the fire on Monday.
The Ashanti Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation said his team is yet to determine the cause of the fire that destroyed hundreds of structures.
Kwabena Nsenkyire told JoyNews' Nana Yaw Gyimah that the Fire Service and the Police have all began investigations to determine what started it.
He, however revealed that NADMO has arranged shelter for the affected persons in a church near by.
Mr Nsenkyire added that mattresses and blankets will be provided for these affected victims until they can solve their accommodation problems.
Meanwhile, this is the third fire incident recorded in the region on the last 2 days.
Some shops on the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology campus caught fire on Saturday.
On Sunday a storey building in the Aboabo market also caught fire destroying goods and monies of shop owners in the process.
"We have been educating the people that every season has its own disaster, so when it comes to dry season every individual has to be very careful," Mr Nsenkyire said.
He also asked the residents of the community to fix faulty gadgets and plugs in their homes so as to minimise these fires.
