The Christmas period is a time of celebration and merrymaking, accompanied with the usual tradition of attending church, sharing meals with family and friends and exchanging gifts.
Over the years people the world over have observed the festive season with practices that are both religious and secular in nature.
However, this year, in the nooks and crannies of Kokomlemle, a suburb of Accra, the yuletide was celebrated differently.
Fiifi, a resident of the community, says he didn’t truly celebrate the Christmas with the usual activities. He, however, spent time with his family at home.
Anna, another resident, is more concerned about the decline of her business, especially because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Compared to Christmas celebrations from previous years, residents in Kokomlemle maintain that this year's has been exceptionally boring.
This notwithstanding, Christmas in some households was massively celebrated, while the celebration of the birth of Christ is yet to be seen in others.
