Founder of the Pentecost International Worship Centre, Professor Kwadwo Nimfour Opoku Onyinah has asked prophets to desist from predicting winners of impending elections and refrain from foretelling the deaths of people.

Giving a semon at the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Thanksgiving Service themed, “Ebenezer, thus how far the lord has helped us,” he said such prophecies creates tension and retards the growth of the nation.

He stressed that prophets should instead pray for God to give the country good leaders to propel the nation.

“One of the offices which has been of use of ancient of age and contemporary days is the office of Prophet. There are true prophets and a true prophet must be an epitome of wisdom and knowledge such that his or her Ministry does not bring confusion to a nation.

“Unfortunately, one of the women prophet mentioned in the Bible called Naomi stole money and gave false prophecies. So it is my plea to those who call themselves prophets in our country that they will exercise patience and wisdom.

“They should not to prophesise on who will become the next President and who will not. And not to prophesise on the evil that some people are going to die or not. It is the mind of God that will grow our economy and grow our nation,” he said.

Reacting to the caution, founder of Glorious Word Power Ministry, Reverend Isaac Owusu Bempah said he will continue to prophesy despite the caution against such practice.

In his view, Prophets who prophesise do not cause confusion as indicated by Apostle Opoku Onyinah.

Citing prophets like Nathan and Jeremiah from the Bible, Rev Owusu Bempah said he was just being used by God to do his works on earth.
