Supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the North East region have embarked on a protest against the Electoral Commission (EC) in the regional capital, Nalerigu.
The action, according to them, is for what they describe as a flawed election result; a claim the EC has denied.
Speaking to Joy News, a member of the group said the protest is aimed at saving Ghanaians and the country’s democracy.
“It is all about Ghanaians and the future of our democracy. If today it is NDC, tomorrow, it could be a different party altogether.”
The NDC supporter wants the Electoral Commission to be informed of the grievances of the party supporters in the region.
“We have decided to peacefully walk through the streets and go and present our petition to the EC and let them know that we are not happy about the current happenings in Ghana.”
The supporter further called on other party supporters, especially the NPP to join them in fighting their concerns.
“We feel that well balanced NPP members should even join us because tomorrow if it is for Mr A, it will be for Mr B another day.”
Meanwhile, the party says it is preparing to officially present what they claim is the accurate results from Techiman South Constituency to the international community as a basis for rejecting the results declared by the EC.
The NDC supporters have, however, embarked on several walks and demonstrations across the country to arrest the EC’s attention and register grievances.
