Since the Electoral Commission announced New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s Nana Akufo-Addo as the president-elect of the 2020 presidential election, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has refused to accept the result.
According to the leader of the NDC, John Mahama, the result is flawed and must be independently audited before he accepts that he has indeed lost.
Mr Mahama, however, has not officially declared his position as to whether he will use seek legal redress or not.
But supporters of the party have been undertaking mammoth protests in various parts of the country clad in black and red and chanting war songs including ‘No Mahama, no peace.”
These protests have resulted in the arrest of at least 30 persons for unlawful assembly, holding of special event without notification and obstruction.
Today’s edition of The Law on JoyNews will analyse the 1992 Constitution's position on the various protests the NDC are undertaking.
Samson Anyenini will host Head of Law Plus, Denis Adjei Dwomoh, and Head of Ahmed Legal Consult, Musah Ahmed to dissect the issue.
