The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has presented evidence to back their claims of overvoting in the 2020 December 7 elections.
National Communications Director for the party, Sammy Gyamfi at a press conference Thursday said several polling stations recorded significant ballot calculation errors which favoured President Akufo-Addo.
This comes after the party and its presidential candidate levelled various allegations of electoral malfeasance against the Electoral Commission (EC) and the ruling party.
According to Mr Gyamfi, the election saw "widespread cases of overvoting, widespread padding of votes in favour of Candidate Akufo-Addo, no entries of voters verified by BVD on faces of pink sheets in violation of regulation 32(4)(6)(7) of C. I 127 in over 40% of all polling stations in the country and also statistical flaws in the Presidential results declared and gazetted by the EC."
He said in Sunyani West, for instance, school 468 ballots were issued at the SDA primary and total votes cast were 466 but 49 persons were on the register in the polling station.
“The total number of ballot papers the EC gave them was 60 yet 468 people had ballot papers and voted.”
He also showed images of some pink sheets from the Ashanti region which captured the supposed errors identified by the party and added that an audit of their pink sheets confirmed that the Greater Accra, Eastern, Central regions all had such cases.
Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo's victory in the 2020 polls has been gazetted by the Assembly Press in Accra.
Former President John Dramani Mahama has also called for an independent forensic audit of the 2020 December 7 polls.
Mr Mahama maintained that the 2020 election was flawed and further noted that until a forensic audit is conducted, the NDC would not concede defeat.
But General Secretary for the ruling New Patriotic Party has also questioned NDC’s presidential candidate John Dramani Mahama on this call.
John Boadu said this is not found in any of the laws of the state.
