The Northern Regional Security Committee has warned that the security agencies will deal with individuals who instigate violence in the region in the wake of the just-ended elections.
His comments come after some supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Thursday night thronged the streets of Tamale and burnt tyres in protest against the Electoral Commission (EC) for declaring the presidential candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo as President-elect of the Republic.
"Send a clear warning to key stakeholders in the region that in the event that those people who have come out to undermine the security in the region, when they are picked by the security agencies will not be spared," he said.
Addressing the media in Tamale, Chairman of the Committee Salifu Saeed indicated that in the process of gathering intelligence the sources of these acts of violence have been identified.
According to Mr Saeed, the government has invested too much in maintaining peace and to allow any individual or group to destroy it.
Furthermore, Mr Saeed said the Northern Regional Security Council (REGSEC) will ignore people who may try to interfere with the work of the security concerning persons arrested for various infractions.
"Anybody, be it political leaders, chiefs, Imam whoever; business men or women who come to lobby that they should be released, the Law will deal with those people precisely", he stated.
