General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) says the members of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) are tensed because the NDC has secured majority seats in Parliament.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia who was addressing the media on Tuesday claimed that the NDC has won 141 out of the 275 parliamentary seats so far.
This, according to him, puts the NDC in the lead when it comes to the parliamentary elections.
He, however, accused the NPP of conniving with the Electoral Commission to try and change some of these parliamentary results.
"I believe that the NPP is in a very uncomfortable situation, because whatever they do, it is clear that NDC controls Parliament now.
"That is why they [NPP] are putting pressure on the Commission to try and find ways of manipulating results that have already been declared for our Parliamentary candidates," he said.
The General Secretary, therefore, called on party supporters to "stand and defend the ballots cast."
He charged foot soldiers not to allow any recount at collation centres since it is against the law.
Mr Asiedu Nketia also claimed the Party's flagbearer, John Mahama is winning the Presidential race as well.
He indicated that the NDC majority in parliament will, therefore, assist Mr Mahama with his affairs if he is declared president of the country.
“We are expecting that the Electoral Commission to very soon come out to declare him President of Ghana,” Asiedu Nketia added.
