Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has taken a swipe at the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for their last-minute promise to absorb fees of tertiary students if voted into office.
The Ofoase Ayirebi MP in a tweet said Presidential Candidate John Dramani Mahama and the NDC cannot be taken seriously over this belated update to their manifesto.
"How does a candidate who wants to be taken seriously announce 6 days to an election that he intends to amend his manifesto? Consistent inconsistency!," the legislator said.
This follows an announcement by the NDC that it will fully absorb the fees of tertiary students who will be admitted in the coming 2021 year.

The party in a statement noted that the policy dubbed 'Fa Ninyinaa' is an enhancement of its 'Kyemu Pe' policy which seeks to absorb 50% of fees for tertiary students.
“The National Democratic Congress (NDC), announces that it has accepted for incorporation in the Peoples’ Manifesto, the recommendation of the Education Policy Group of the party that the next NDC government absorbs the full school fees of Ghanaian students who will be admitted to tertiary institutions in the 2020/2021 academic year,” it said on December 1.
Meanwhile, Mr Oppong Nkrumah's comment has been received with mixed reactions from Twitter users with some hitting back at the MP for the comment.
A user identified as Joseph Dakora threw the question back to the MP, asking "How can a government that wants to be taken seriously be announcing 6 days to elections, a major scholarship for a badge (sic) of students for whom an opponent has already announced full funding for a year?" he tweeted.
