President Akufo-Addo has announced the suspension of his campaign tour of the country following the passing of former President Jerry John Rawlings on Thursday.
In a statement few hours after news of the death of the country's longest-serving head of state, the NPP flagbearer said he and his is doing so in honour of Mr Rawlings.
Announcing seven days of national mourning and directing all flags to fly at half-mast nationwide from Friday, November 13, he said "In honour of the memory of former President Rawlings, the Vice President and I have suspended our political campaigns for the same period.
Campaign activities are heating up as the country is going to the polls on December 7, to elect a president and members of Parliament.
However, following the news of the passing of Mr Rawlings, a lot of political activities have grind to a halt.
The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Mahama has also suspended his campaign following the death of former Jerry John Rawlings.
The former President who was on a six-day campaign tour of the Ashanti Region said he is suspending his tour with immediate effect.
Mr Mahama said he is returning to Accra to mourn with the family of the founder of the party he is currently leading.
