Thomas Partey has been ruled out of Ghana squad for the crucial 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Sudan this month.
The midfielder has injured his thigh and will stay at Arsenal during the international break.
Partey, who is Black Stars deputy captain, sustained the injury during the Gunners' shock 3-0 defeat against Aston Villa on Sunday night.
He was withdrawn at halftime and scans on Monday have confirmed he will not be fit to feature for the Black Stars.
His absence is a big blow for Black Stars, who are eying wins in the doubleheader to secure qualification to the tournament to be staged in Cameroon.
Ghana will host the first leg in Cape Coast on Thursday and play the North Africans five days later in Khartoum.
Black Stars lead Group D with six points from their first two games, having beaten South Africa and Sao Tome and Principe last year November.
Partey has scored 10 goals in 30 appearances for Ghana.
