Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah has indefinitely retired from the Black Stars.
The player announced on his Twitter account on Sunday afternoon stating that "I have decided to take a break from the national team until further notice."
The reason of Mensah's retirement wasn't stated, however, his announcement comes days after the Beşiktaş midfielder was excluded from CK Akonnor's 23-man squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Mensah was part of the squad that was called for the friendly games against Mali and Qatar last month.
He featured in the game against Mali and was an unused substitute against Qatar. The 26-year-old was part of several members of the team who contracted Covid-19, but after days of isolation Mensah has recovered.
The former Atletico Madrid midfielder managed four appearances for the Black Stars scoring one goal.
