Auditing and Accounting firm, KPMG has endorsed the “Say no to vigilantism” football gala aimed at preaching peace among the youth as the general election approaches.
The competition organised by the Humanity Magazine International will also use football to educate participants and corporate bodies to support the quest by government to abolish vigilantism during and after the December polls.
Speaking to endorse the move, Senior Partner at KPMG Ghana, Anthony Sarpong stressed the need for a peaceful co-existence between opposing political ideas.
He noted that the 2020 general election is a very important one in the democracy of the country but can only be tagged as successful when there is a peaceful process for businesses to go about their operations to grow the country’s economy.
“This year is a very important year for all of us as Ghanaians being an election year. May I take this opportunity on behalf of KPMG to encourage Ghanaians, particularly the youth to ensure that they act calmly and remain peaceful for the periods before, during and after the elections.
"We have just one country and we need it to be peaceful so that together as Ghanaians, we will be able to go about our businesses and individual activities so that at the end, we can better our nation,” he said.
