Police in the Ashanti Region have mounted a search for two more persons suspected to be involved in the lynching of a 35-year old woman at Santasi.
Five people reportedly beat the deceased, Esther, on suspicion that she had stolen from a drinking spot.
According to the police, three have already been arrested after admitting to having participated in the act.
Describing the state of the deceased, Unit Committee Chairman, Frank Owusu said: “The body had fresh wounds all over. With what I saw I am sure she died from the beating,” he stated.
The deceased, Esther was beaten until she fell unconscious for allegedly stealing an unspecified amount of money from her landlady, who operates the drinking spot.
One of the suspects had earlier denied the allegations of beating the deceased and abandoning her at the Holy Exchange Clinic where she died.
But community leaders managed to access information of the incident.
“She told us the lady has recovered and sent back to her hometown. We went to the hospital to check and found the deceased there,” Frank Owusu said.
Luv News sources say there are fresh visible marks of assault all over body of the deceased.
Esther had traveled from the Northern Region to seek greener pastures but was staying with the owner of the bar, who is currently the prime suspect.
Back at the scene, tenants who lived in the area and frequently visit the bar denied any knowledge of the incident and subsequent death of Esther.
Police investigation continues.
