President Akufo-Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia have joined the chiefs and people of the Mamprugu to celebrate the annual Demma (Damba) festival.
They arrived at the forecourt of Nayiri in the North East regional capital, Nalerigu, to grace the grand durbar.

The Mamprusi people are among the five ethnic groups in Ghana that celebrate the Damba festival.
The festival is believed to mark the birth and naming ceremony of the Holy Prophet Mohammed, and is celebrated to foster peace and unity, and to preserve the culture of the people, unite families and strengthen the bond between the chief and his family.

Dozens of traditional chiefs and influential figures from across the country gathered to witness the occasion.
