Mother of American singer Beyonce is defending her daughter after she was called out for not supporting Nigerians amid the EndSARS protests.
Tina Lawson in an Instagram post stated that her daughter was not Nigeria's political leader or spokesperson to be slammed for not commenting on the happenings in Nigeria.
"No matter what my daughter does, she is scrutinised and torn apart. She makes a record and uses all African artist, producers, writer. She is criticised because she didn't get artistes from every country in Africa. There are 52 countries!"
" ...She made art!! She is an artist! That is what artist do. She is not your political leader or your whipping board. I have had enough of the hating and I'm personally tired of the attacks," Tina Lawson wrote in a lengthy post.
Her comment comes after many young Nigerians including celebrities like Tiwa Savage called on the Beyonce to acknowledge and comment on the police brutalities in Nigeria.
Tiwa Savage had made video calling on the American superstar noting that her team reached out to Nigerian creatives for the 'Black Is King' project to show the world the beauty of Afrobeat and Africa.
Tina Lawson in her post stated that she was angry at the Nigerian artiste for calling out Beyonce publicly instead of reaching out to the singer through her team.
Mrs Lawson explained that as an artiste who has worked with Queen Bey before Tiwa should not have resorted to social media.
"I am sure at the time she was not thinking straight because of the trauma that the country was facing but come on!!!"
Mrs Lawson added that although she does not appreciate the cyber bullying, she prays for Nigeria and every other country where people are being abused and murdered.
"I would do anything to help but stop with the abuse and stop trying to make her your spokesperson and shaming people for doing things their own way."
Meanwhile, the Grammy award-winning artist Beyoncé has lent her support to Nigerians amid the ongoing protests against police brutality.
The singer took to her Instagram account to announce that she “has been working on partnerships with youth organisations” to support protesters.
