The Electoral Commission has extended the deadline for the transferred/proxy voters' exercise.
In a statement issued by the Commission on Thursday, the 3-day exercise has been extended to 4 days, and will thus end on Friday, October 23.
The exercise which commenced on Wednesday is to allow registered voters, particularly security officials who would be on special duties at a different constituency and students to apply to the Returning Officer of the Constituency to be included in the transferred voters’ list of their preferred voting location.
Applicants would need to provide physical proof of the new residence and shall sign a declaration by the Returning Officer before being assigned a new polling station.
The EC also explained that registered voters who due to ill-health or absence from the constituency would not be able to vote on the Polling Day might apply to the Returning Officer of the Constituency or the Commission for the name of the selected proxy to be entered onto the Proxy list.
