The Founder of the Church of Prosperity at Akyem Batabi in the Asene Manso Akroso District of the Eastern Region is in the grips of the Akim Oda Divisional Police Command.
Prophet Akoa Isaac’s arrest follows the collapse of his three-storey building church, Tuesday.
Sources say nine dead bodies have been exhumed from the debris of a collapsed building.
The deceased include 60-year-old Afia Tameklo who was reportedly killed by a falling pillar as she tried to escape.
According to a police report, the bodies were retrieved from the scene at 9:40 pm before the rescue exercise was put on hold.
While the rescue team made up of NADMO officials, Bureau of National Investigations (BNI), the police, soldiers from jungle warfare, fire personnel, and local volunteers remain on-site, the exact number of persons still trapped under the debris has not been unconfirmed.
But giving an update on Adom FM's Midday News, regional correspondent Kwasi Azor said Prophet Isaac was picked up for interrogation by the police.
According to him, the prophet is to assist with investigation into the development.
Meanwhile, information available to JoyNews indicates that out of the 60 congregants who were alleged to have converged at the building for service, more than 30 have been rescued.
