The Lands and Natural Resource Minister, Mr Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh has indicated that the government has reduced land title registration from 3 years to 120 days.
Speaking on the achievement, he stated that government hopes to reduce it further to 30 days.
"It is expected to go down significantly and ultimately to the Government’s target turn-around time of 30 days when all planned strategies are fully implemented."
According to him, the time-reduction would streamline land documentation processes in the country.
"Ghanaians find it difficult to get access to land, especially in the Greater Accra region.
"It could take any person applying for title registration between 120 working days to 3 years with the associated cost and eventual loss of one’s documents," he stated.
Mr Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh also revealed that the Ministry in consultation with the leadership of Parliament has facilitated the passage of the Land Bill.
He, however, stated that "the Bill is yet to receive a Presidential assent."
The Minister for Lands and Resource added that the essence of the Bill would be to ensure sustainable land administration, management and effective land tenure.
He added that the initiative was a part of Government's plans in addressing the inefficiencies in land administration in the country.
