Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress as laid blame on the New Patriotic Party for being unconcerned about the plight of aggrieved Menzgold customers.

According to him, no credible measures have been instituted to address the situation or to release the locked up investments and in addition, the C.E.O of Menzgold, Nana Appiah Mensah has not been held unaccountable for his actions.

“You can see that the NPP government is unconcerned about the plight of the Menzgold customers because till date, they have no idea what to do in solving the problem and the person responsible for the crime is roaming around freely," he said.

Speaking at the official Tarkwa Constituency campaign launch, Mr. Mahama expressed worry as to why the aggrieved customers were prevented by the police from staging a demonstration.

He accused the NPP government of not investigating the matter, not punishing the culprit and not returning the monies to their rightful owners.

John Mahama promised the aggrieved customers of Menzgold that when voted into power, he was going to retrieve the locked-up funds.

"God-willing when the NDC comes back into office, we will chase all persons who have your monies and return them to you, any hidden property of yours shall be returned," he said.

In January this year, Police arrested over 100 customers of defunct gold dealership firm, Menzgold, who had picketed at the home of the CEO to demand the release of their investment.

The aggrieved customers besieged the plush residence of Nana Appiah Mensah, Wednesday, to retrieve their locked-up cash without police approval.

They had vowed to sleep at the CEO’s residence until their monies are paid because they have run out of patience.

Victims in the Tarkwa and Kumasi area in the Western and Ashanti regions, respectively joined those in Accra to embark on the protest they had hoped will result in some fruitful response.
