The Deputy Minister for Finance, Mrs Abena Osei Asare has indicated that government's expenditure on the Covid-19 response program totals GH¢20.4 billion.
She stated that the funds were secured from various local and international sources.
Mrs Osei Asare disclosed that the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the nation's Stabilization Fund and foreign sources that include the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were among the many resources relied on by the Ministry.
"The country was able to source $1 billion and that was used to fund other programs associated with the pandemic. We also sourced funding from our development partners like the World Bank and the EU.
"The Bank of Ghana gave about 10 million to help us fill in our statutory funding that includes the District Assembly Common Fund. An amount was dispersed to the districts to enable them to carry out their activities at that level," she added.
She stated that the National Health Insurance Scheme is part of the statutory fund. Health workers received financial support to aid commuting from workplaces.
The expenditure by the government, she stated was to foster the growth of government businesses and the economy in view of the pandemic.
