The Ghana Police Service has cautioned the citizenry over the rise of fraudsters using public health facilities in Accra to perpetrate vehicle-related crime.
In a statement signed by the Head of Public Affairs, DSP Effia Tenge, the scammers advertise vehicles for sale via the internet and lure interested buyers from all parts of the country to these health facilities, particularly, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital to dupe them.
According to her, “As a way to win the confidence and divert attention of prospective buyers, these swindlers mostly pose as health practitioners working from the facility or persons going to seek medical treatment.
"At the facility, transactions are concluded and victims swindled under the pretext of selling vehicles to them.”
DSP Tenge therefore noted that as the police work assiduously to neutralise the activities of these criminals, the general public must be on alert for such fraudulent crimes.
“Exercise due diligence in all transactions purported to be coming from, or linked to the staff of the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital or similar medical facilities,” she added.
