The Executive Director of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Foundation, Dominic Kwesi Eduah has said moving forward, Ghanaians will experience a more developmental-oriented relationship with the Corporation.
Speaking with Mulimedia's Osei Bonsu of Ɛkosiisɛn, he disclosed that the introduction of 3 thematic pillars will foster this relationship.
According to him, the pillars are Education and Training, Environment and Social Amenities Unit and Economic Empowerment.
Mr Dominic Eduah noted that the reason for this proactive step is to ensure that every Ghanaian will benefit from the nation's Petroleum proceeds.
"This machinery draws the Foundation closer to the Ghanaian, we are making sure our commitments to Ghana are solid such that no one will ideally stand and accuse the government of not reaching the people of Ghana with the benefit that comes with Petroleum," he said.
Under the Education and Training pillar, Mr Dominic mentioned that from 2017 to date, the foundation has made it possible for 4,000 local folks to undertake fully paid scholarships for university studies with special attention given to Persons with Disabilities.
In the Environment and Social Amenities Unit, he said engagements with community folks brought to light the needs in those communities such as the need for sanitary facilities.
This, he said, led the GNPC foundation to provide sanitary facilities for 3 communities in the Western Region along with others across the country.
According to him, government can not keep track of all the needs that exist in communities, hence, the need for the GNPC to contribute to help alleviate the needs of Ghanaians through the foundation.
"Government cannot keep track of everything so this is our contribution to society, this is one corporate responsibility we hold dear in executing."
The third pillar he said is to ensure sustainable Economic Empowerment.
"The GNPC Foundation has taken the responsibility of funding and partnering with the Aseda foundation to train Ghanaians under the system to acquire soft skills needed to support them in life".
According to him, beneficiaries are all given certificates and start-up kits at the end of their training for participation, evidence of expertise and support to sustain themselves after the training exercise.
The Executive Director of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation Foundation, Dominic Kwesi Eduah urged Ghanaians to participate in this year's training exercise which begins mid-October this year.
Prospective beneficiaries are encouraged to pay attention to all social media handles of the GNPC foundation to be updated and informed.
