Electoral commission chair, Jean Mensa has expressed her disappointment in the NDC flag bearer, John Dramani Mahama’s failure to submit his nomination form in person.
According to the EC chair, his submission in person would afford the two flag bearers the opportunity to deliberate on some media-related issues.
“As a commission, we would have wished that the flag bearer of the NDC, former President John Dramani Mahama and or his vice presidential candidate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang would have been here personally to present their nomination forms as it would have allowed us an opportunity to engage particularly with the former president on some of his concerns which we have noted in the media,” she said.
However, the party’s general secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, who filed the nomination form on behalf of the former president, disagrees with the EC’s submission, stating that “the flag bearer can come or he can choose his representative to come,”.
The General Secretary who arrived late at the EC Headquarters on Wednesday, further questioned whether the EC had notified the former president in that regard.
“Why, has she written to the flag bearer to come and address his concerns?” he questioned.
