The Minority in Parliament is mounting pressure on officials of Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod) to publish the report of a supposed audit conducted on cocoa roads in some parts of the country.
This comes after the Chief Executive Officer of the Board, Joseph Boahen Aidoo said the report of the audit conducted on the construction of cocoa roads in some parts of the country cannot be made public.
According to him, the report was meant to assist the management of the projects stressing that individuals who have an interest in it must go through the required application process.
However, in an interview with Adom News, the Minority spokesperson on Roads and Transport, Kwame Governs Agbodza described Mr Boahen Aidoo's comments as unacceptable.
He argues that if government claims that some projects were inflated by the Mahama-led administration, it should go ahead and publish the report for the publish to see the truth.
“It is not healthy for journalists to be saying ‘I saw a portion that states’ because this alleged report was undertaken with public funds by a public organisation so this report must be made public so that Ghanaians will see for themselves if the NDC did a bad thing,” he said.
The Adaklu MP further noted that since individuals and certain private companies have been implicated there is the need for them to have access to the full information in order to clear themselves.
"For us [NDC], if they [Cocobod] claims the report is ready, we want it immediately."
