Manklalo of Dofor Traditional Area in Juapong, Togbe Agbohla VI, has revealed that an official invitation to join in the Homeland Study Group Foundation's (HSGF) separationist mission was rejected by the community, months prior to the series of destruction caused by the group.
According to him, residents of the community also repudiated plans by the secessionist group to hold meetings in the township.
In an address to the press on Thursday, October 1, 2020, the Manklalo maintained that the community's stance on HSGF's intentions to seek independence for the Volta Region remains the same.
“We want to use this occasion to extend our warning to the group never to attempt extending their illicit activities into our territories any longer, as they are not welcome” he reiterated.
Togbe Agbohla seized the opportunity to appreciate the efforts of both the Police and the Military in maintaining order in the Region, adding however that, some residents who have been arrested in connection with the crime, including the Asafoakye of Dofor, are innocent.
“I don’t intend to meddle with government’s action towards stopping the separationist group, but I’m pleading that they intensify intelligence on the ground in order to apprehend those people who are directly or indirectly involved” he said.
Meanwhile, residents of Juapong are asking that security is toughened up in the traditional area in order to prevent the secessionists from causing further damages to their lives and property.
