A committee headed by former Education Minister Prof. Dominic Fobih submitted its report to the Education Minister, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
In a statement by the Minister’s Press Secretary, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, he said the report and its recommendations have been well received by the Minister of Education.
Schools closed in March after Covid-19 visited the shores of the country.
President Akufo-Addo who announced this in his second update to the nation on the Covid-19 pandemic said the move was to curtail the spread of the virus in the country.
Subsequently, a committee was set up to deliberate on the safe reopening of schools and how schools will continue with rest of the 2020/21 academic year.
The committee has finally submitted its findings and recommendations to the Education Ministry and awaiting approval from government.
It is expected that the President and his advisors will study the report along with its recommendations and then issue the relevant directives.
Mr Boateng in the statement further stated that Dr Prempeh thanked the members of the committee for their hard work and diligence and said the report will be forwarded to the President ahead of extensive stakeholder engagements on the roll-out of the decision by the President.
Meanwhile, school was opened for finial year JHS, SHS and tertiary students to return and complete their terminal examinations.
Form 2 JHS and SHS students are also expected to return in October and close their 2019/20 academic year.
