The Head of International Development Advisory Services (IDAS) at KPMG says Christians in the country seem to have abandoned their role as gatekeepers of the society.
Dr George Manu noted that Christians must begin to recognise themselves as the controllers, monitors and providers of direction as far as morality and development in the society is concerned.
This, according to him, is in line with a command from Christ to be the salt and light of the world, and in recognition that the Church is supposed to stand firm and not allow the gates of hell to prevail.
Speaking at the first National Christian Forum, a virtual programme organised by Advocates for Christ Ghana (A4CG), under the topic “Watching the Gates”, Dr Manu admonished Christians to see their workplaces as extensions of their worship.
According to him, God placed them there for a purpose, explaining that there are “battle out there to influence and control thus; your career is your calling, your position is your pulpit and your placement is your parish”, he said.
The National Christian Forum 2020, dubbed “A Critical look at National Sectors, Election 2020 and our Christian Response” was organised in conjunction with over 100 churches and parachurch organisations.
The purpose of the forum is to have a permanent annual common platform for Ghanaian Christians to make recommendations pertaining to different gates i.e. spheres of societal influence; Economy, Science, Family, among others and to develop common expectations with respect to the governance of the country.
Over 300 people participated in the forum from all over the world.
A4CG is a growing movement of professionals, parents, pastors, and others, all of whom are Christians, seeking to provide a permanent and proactive voice on national issues in Ghana.
It has a membership of over 300 currently across Africa, Europe, and the United States of America.
A4CG is working together with other Christians to achieve its vision of becoming a lead movement or organisation in Ghana, promoting biblical Christian values in all sectors of national life.
Their mission is to engage in public policy advocacy, capacity development, and prayers, related to national issues.
