The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere East in Effiduase in the Ashanti Region, Mary Boatemaa Marfo, has been fired from her post by the President.
A letter written by a Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Kwasi Boateng Adjei, to the Ashanti Regional Minister stated that the decision by the President takes effect immediately.
The Regional Minister, Simon Osei-Mensah, has been tasked to take oversight responsibility until a new DCE has been appointed.
Mary Boatemaa Marfo’s dismissal comes after she allegedly vowed to reduce the votes of the NPP in the Effiduase-Asokore Constituency during the December 7 polls.
In a leaked audio, the DCE was heard in a conversation with a party member saying that she will frustrate voters on election day which will in turn reduce the votes of the NPP and the MP, Dr. Nana Ayew Afriyie.
The MP in times past has accused the DCE of frustrating his efforts to develop the constituency.
In 2019, Mary Marfo had alleged that Dr Afriyie assaulted her and investigations proved her statements false.
This latest development is seen by many in the Constituency as a clear and deliberate effort to make the party and the MP unpopular.
