Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to rise to the task and show credibility during voters' exhibition exercise.
The Commission will from September 18 – 25, exhibit the provisional voters register at all 33,367 centres.
The minority leader said he was disappointed by the work of the Electoral Commission during the voters' exhibition.
According to him, the EC should have taken advantage of the voters' exhibition to showcase their biometric verification devices ahead of the December 7 polls.
"Ideally every polling station must have a BVD for the voter to identify himself, taking advantage of that equipment because it is the equipment which will be deployed for election"
Mr Iddrisu said adequate budget was allocated for the procurement of BVDs in quantities not less than 7,500.
He emphasised the standard should have been on the availability, presence, use and testing of the devices.
"What the EC is currently doing is more of a manual exercise where people are just checking their names," he added.
The Minority Leader charged the EC to wake up from its slumber. Adding that Ghana has only one opportunity to preserve its democracy and that will be on the conduct of a free, fair and credible election.
He also raised concerns about discrepancies in the figure recorded during the registration exercise and what the EC is exhibiting.
"Now in the Tamale South Constituency specifically, I have observed in the Bamvum Presby area were 769 registered voters were recorded, we are seeing an exhibition of 555 voters.
"A reduction of about 200, there are missing voters on the register," he said.
Haruna Iddrisu said the data collected by EC was not credible.
According to him, he has requested for a national compilation of the discrepancies to guide their next possible action.
