National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammi Awuku, is confident the NPP will win the elections based on their policy implementation records.
He indicated that since assuming power in 2017, the NPP had rolled out policies and programmes that are positively impacting the well-being of Ghanaians.
Speaking at the NPP round 2 virtual rally organized by the HOPE Campaign, Mr Awuku said the elections on December 7 will be decided by the track records of the two parties.
“With the government's renewed focus in agriculture, most Ghanaian youth are proud to go into agriculture, through the Planting for Food and Jobs program.”
Mr Awuku indicated that apart from addressing the power outages locally known as “dumsor”, which led to the collapse of many businesses in the country, the government rolled out the Free Senior High School (FSHS) policy, an ambitious program that is targeted at improving the quality of Ghana’s human resource.
The policy, he said, creates an even playing field for every Ghanaian child of school-going age especially those from low-income communities, to access pre-tertiary education without any financial burden on their parents and guardians.
Mr Awuku said it took a “courageous” leader like President Nana Akufo-Addo to roll-out the FSHS policy that the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) said would be impossible.
He added that the party has rolled out other schemes such as the 1D1F policy, Planting for Food and Jobs, as well as the distribution of over 200 state-of-the-art ambulances to more than 200 constituencies in the country.
Furthermore, the government has absorbed a good number of unemployed youths into jobs, through the youth employment program NABCO.
The assured that government will continue to make enormous investments in technology such as the Zipline project, where the much-needed medical supplies are is air lifted through the use of drones to their hospitals and clinics to address the urgent healthcare needs of patients.
The scheme he revealed, had saved the lives of patients especially pregnant women who had in the past lost their lives because of lack of access to blood.
NPP MP Aspirant for Ablekuma North Constituency, Sheila Bartels, appealed to the electorates to retain the government into power because they have good policies to improve their lives.
Ms Bartels, who is a founding member of the HOPE Campaign, said retaining the NPP in government for another 4 years will open job creation opportunities for most of the youth in the constituency.
Information Minister and MP for Ofoase Ayirebi in the Eastern Region, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, said the election is about which of the two parties have brought significant improvements in the lives of the electorates.
The rally which was emceed by Akosua Manu from the National Youth Employment Agency was kick-started by Kweku Quarshie, a member of the HOPE Campaign who stated:
“We have assessed how in almost 4 years; the Ghanaian economy has been carefully repositioned for a productive rearrangement. How the financial system has been strengthened. How import processes have been made faster, easier and more effective.
"How it is now easier to pay for water and power bill from our phones. How it’s easier to do banking, insurance etc from our phones. All these and more of such rearrangements kept our hopes alive that a strong Ghana is being built where some are wealthy, others are rich, and nobody is left poor.”
The Managing Director of SIC Life Savings and Loans, Amma Frimpomaa Dwumah reiterated: “Nana Akufo-Addo has a complete value chain for the youth of Ghana by strategically closing the gap and [now] the young girl in Ghana has the audacity to dream and believe.
"For those who had already hustled through the rigours of formal education but were victims of Mr John Mahama's unemployment epidemic, he has introduced NABCO to serve as a stop-gap/transition to absorb and provide some relief to them. At the same time providing them with the needed work experience to improve their chances of securing jobs in the future."
Ms Manu said, the HOPE campaign will continue to engage citizens in another virtual rally, which will highlight other important achievements of President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’s leadership.
The HOPE campaign is a group of young professionals drawn from different backgrounds, who offer critical policy support to the government.
