President Akufo-Addo has expressed hope that the military take over in neighboring Mali will be brought to an end.
This follows the gathering of ECOWAS Heads of State in Ghana to deliberate on possible solutions to the political crisis in Mali following a coup to oust President Bubakar Keita in August.
Speaking at the opening of the consultative meeting on the political crisis, President Akufo-Addo who is also the Chairman of ECOWAS said he hopes the meeting currently underway at Peduase brings finality to the crisis.
According to him, ECOWAS cannot afford any further delay in putting together a new government to oversee the transition to restore democracy in the West African country.
"Today is supposed to be the day when the military Junta puts in place a government which will respond to the criteria we set out in our last summit on 28th August 2020 but that has not been done.
"The circumstances of life in Mali now require that closure be brought to the matter now and it is my belief that a face to face meeting between us representing the ECOWAS community and the military forces will provide us with the best opportunity to find a firm resolution, " Akufo-Addo said.
Meanwhile, the ultimatum set by ECOWAS at its last meeting in Niamey, Niger, for the Military regime to handover power has not been met.
