The Afadzato South District Assembly has launched a tourism initiative dubbed 'Explore Afadzato' with the aim of promoting the area's huge tourism opportunities to the world.
Afadzato South which was carved out of the Hohoe Municipality has more than 14 beautiful tourist sights which draws lots of visitors.
Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors (CBOD) Senyo Hosi was full of praise for the Volta Region.
"From the West African tallest mountains in Afadzato, the Adaklu mountains just to mention a few means that the Volta Region is the most beautiful region in Ghana,” Mr Hosi said.
He said it was important for residents of the area to take advantage of the rich culture and huge tourism potential in the region to explore and sell it's richness to the world.
Mr Hosi noted that apart from the many natural resources of the Volta Region, there are a lot more to be proud of in terms of tourism which Afadzato just like many other districts have in abundance
He urged residents of the region to help build this dream of making the Volta Region the hub of tourism in Ghana.
“Take the Afadzato south to the world and share it's beauty to everyone to also share in the prosperity of Afadzato” Mr Hosi urged.
Volta Regional Minister, Dr Achibald Yao Letsa who was the guest of honour said the government is committed to developing tourism in every part of the country.
This he said will help to project the country the world.
“The VRCC is ever ready to help you in anyway especially in regards to tourism in the Afadzato District," ‘Dr Letsa assured.
‘
The DCE for Afadjato South, James Etornam Flolu noted that the assembly exists to improve both social and economic life of the people.
This will be done through efficient resource mobilization, maintaining a strong agricultural base for further industrial development and being a leading cultural heritage of the people and the region as a whole.
“ Sales, rentals and services of agricultural equipment including combine harvesters reapers, tractors and among others are alterative areas investors might consider, “he said.
On the sustainability of the 'Exploring Afadzato' project he said they will ensure the project is implemented devoid of any political interference.
In addition, he said aside from the various minor events and activities that will be ongoing each year, they hope to continue hosting and improving on the Explore Afadzato tours till it becomes the next big thing after the Year of Return.
The DCE announced that the assembly was opened for a Public-Private Partnership [PPP] in the tourism sector as it would create an enabling environment to ensure businesses flourish.
Despite the huge tourist attraction in the area, the district has its several challenges with regards to roads, infrastructure and many more that needs urgent attention from the government to make tourism in the area a reality
