The West African Examination Council (WAEC) says the Integrated Science questions that were circulated on social media during the just-ended examination were fake.
Addressing a press conference at its headquarters in Accra, Head of WAEC's National Office, Wendy E. Addy-Lamptey, said the examination body has no interest in destroying its hard-earned reputation by leaking papers.
"WAEC does not circulate apor," she added.
Mrs Addy-Lamptey described the website that circulated the "fake" papers as "rogue" adding that the institution is working to take action against them.
She also refuted claims that the 2020 examination is the most compromised in recent history.
Going forward, Mrs Addy-Lamptey stated that WAEC intends to install mobile phone jammers at examination centres as a measure of curtailing leakages.
She gave an assurance that quality control measures will be rolled out to ensure fairness among students and maintain the Council's integrity.
Head of the legal department at WAEC, Rev. Victor Brew also announced steps the examination body has taken including engaging the cybercrime department of the Ghana Police Service and other investigators to clamp down on the websites behind the leakages of WASSCE questions on social media.
Rev Brew also listed some challenges WAEC recorded during the monitoring of this year's WASSCE.
Some of the challenges, he mentioned include assault on some WAEC officials and the media by candidates of Bright SHS, reports of some invigilators sending their mobile phones to the examination halls, use of phones to assist candidates by dictating answers among others.
Rev Brew revealed that some arrests have already been made in connection with the confusion, assault, and vandalism that characterised the 2020 WASSCE.
The Council made a call to the general public to help the examination body maintain the integrity it has natured over the years.
