The Policy Research and Advocacy Institute (PRAI) has called on President Akufo-Addo to revoke the appointments of some Ministers.
They cited Ministers for Monitoring and Evaluation, and Local Government and Rural Development, as well as District and Municipal Chief Executives responsible for data entry errors captured in the infrastructure presentation of Vice President Bawumia at the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences.
According to PRAI, “The data collection errors reflect a lack of effective monitoring and supervision of projects and policies by the Ministries of Monitoring and Evaluation and Local Government and Rural Development, and District and Municipal Chief Executives across the country.”
Their statement follows revelations that certain projects mentioned in the Vice President’s presentation on the ruling government’s infrastructure projects were non-existent.
The opposition party, the National Democratic Congress had listed 26 of such ghost projects in a press conference in response to the Vice President’s Townhall meeting.
In a press statement, PRAI said for misleading the Vice President by providing him with false information, “the sacking of the above-mentioned Ministers and MCEs will reinforce Government’s commitment and the principle of applying the principle of ultimate responsibility as applied in the case of former Energy Minister, Boakye Agyarko, a previous appointee of this Administration.”
This, they say will go a long way in restoring the image of the Vice President “which has been battered and from being viewed as dishonest and untrustworthy.”
