Egypt's Civil Aviation Authority has announced that effective September 1, 2020, all airports operating within Hurghada, Sharm el-Sheikh, Marsa Alam and Taba are to allow passengers to conduct a PCR analysis for 30 dollars upon their arrival.
According to Egypt's Ministry of Aviation, the move is to enable passengers unable to present PCR certificates to enter the country, provided the test results are clear.
On August 20, the country gave prior notice to the general public that irrespective of nationality, all passengers aboard its flights to Egypt must have PCR test analysis confirming their coronavirus status.
The tests, as a requirement, should have been taken with the last 72 hours of reaching Egyptian territory.
A follow-up statement from the cabinet explained that this comes as part of efforts by the Egyptian government to help mitigate the spread of the global pandemic.
Previous precautionary measures from the country's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has all tourism companies closed to allowing PCR analysis on tourists in private laboratories.
The Ministry also called on officials from the Egyptian Travel Agents Association to conduct tests at laboratories under the Ministry of Health.
Egypt had earlier in March suspended flights and tourism to the country, following the introduction of COVID-19.
Traffic in all Egyptian airports resumed in July, in accordance with the country's preventative and precautionary measures to coexist with COVID-19.
