Highlife artiste Eugene Kwame Marfo, also known as Kuami Eugene says winning the 'Artiste of the Year' award at the just ended Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) is a dream come true.
Kuami Eugene is the latest to win this much-coveted title succeeding the late Ebony Reigns two years after she won the award posthumously.
Growing up, the 'Angela' hitmaker has always believed that serving others with his talent would get him to the height of his career, and says that winning this award is a testament to that notion as well as his talent as an artiste.
"I knew for sure there's something in me and I had to focus on what's in me and how to bring it out. I wanted to serve my life as a meal to people so that people can believe in me and I knew it was going to get to this extent one day that, people can believe in me to a point where they will say let's cast votes to put this boy on a top-notch. So it's a dream come true for me," he said Monday on the Super Morning Show.
He also bagged the 'Highlife Artiste of the Year' award on the same night.
The Lynx Entertainment signee first appeared on the music in 2017 after taking part in Season 5 of the MTN Hitmaker series in 2016.
Although he came second in the competition, 4 years on, he has emerged winner of the 2020 edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
Over the years, the 'Fadama boy', as he calls himself, has several hit songs to his credit and has become a household name in the country.
He has also collaborated with other artistes such as Kidi, Keche and several others.
He has received over 15 award nominations for his exploits in the music industry and has amassed several of these awards including 12 local awards and 7 international ones.
Kuami Eugene hopes to release his 15-track album, Son of Africa on October 9 this year.
