A 12-year-old girl Neriah Tettey has been crowned the winner of the Tripple-S Challenge.
She emerged victory ahead of about 100 young people from across the country who sent entries for the Triple-S challenge.
Contestants for the School Sanitation Solution Challenge were tasked to provide practical solutions to Ghana's sanitation problems.
After months of heated debates and oral presentations in a series of contests, only four of them sailed through to the grand finale.
The final four contestants were then required to defend their essays before a live audience.
After an hour, the judges made their choice and Ms Neriah Tettey was crowned the winner.
"I am so excited that I won. I plan to focus on rural education to ensure that open defecation there becomes a thing of the past," she said.
Joshua Desmenu and Sylvia Apolara, both of whom are also 12-year-old, place second and third respectively.
The Triple-S is organized by World Vision Ghana in partnership with Zoomlion Foundation, Kings Hall Media and GAMA.
Wash Technical Co-ordinator at World Vision Ghana, Yaw Attah Arhin said as leaders of tomorrow, children have a role to play in solving the country's sanitation problem hence the need for the contest.
"For Ghana to become the cleanest country in West Africa, we need all hands on deck. I feel children should not be left out as they too can have practical solutions to our sanitation woes," he said.
National Programmes Officer of Zoomlion Foundation, Thomas Narh Korley urged the winners to be agents of change in their schools and communities.
"These children have presented brilliant ideas today, we look forward to helping them implement these ideas in their community," he said.
