Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper says the Auditor-General's needless dramatisation of being locked out of his office is subjecting the position to ridicule.

He said although he supports Daniel Yao Domelevo's crusade to fight corruption, his antics in a case of not having access to his office keys is unnecessary drama.

"There are serious issues both constitutional and non-constitutional pending in our courts and I think the focus should be there because when they are determined, it will help us looking forward what to do regarding corporate governance and all the things relative to the Audit Service, Audit Service Board and office of the Auditor-General.

"And I am happy that these things are in the court and being litigated and we should all be committed to it...I find it very difficult to take my focus away from there and bring it to this needless dramatisation of change of keys or locks," he told Samson Lardy Anyenini on JoyNews' Newsfile, Saturday.

The Auditor-General was astonished to discover that the locks to his office had been changed when he went by on Tuesday afternoon to pick up some documents.

On his arrival at the premises, Mr Domelevo, noticed that he could not access his office because the locks had been changed on the instruction of the Board.

He said upon checking with them, the Board could neither confirm nor deny giving the instruction.

On June 29, President Akufo-Addo ordered Mr Domelevo to take his accumulated leave.

The vociferous Auditor-General was to take an initial 123 days leave to start from July 1, but was later asked to take 167 days to include his 2020 leave days.

Chairman of the Audit Service Board Prof. Edward Dua Agyeman has justified the decision to change the locks to Mr Domelovo’s office.

According to him, the move is meant to secure the office.

“The acting Auditor General informed us that he wasn’t happy about the security of that office and therefore suggested that we secure the place. The board authorised him to buy new locks and secure the place,” he said.
