Residents of Aboabo in the Ashanti Region have lamented on how a man claimed to be a National Security operative has repeatedly abused them in the community.
Yehowaa Yakubu or Boyo as he is known in the community, started his “terrorising” activities “after they [New Patriotic Party] won power,” one resident told Joy News.
He would beat up anyone who has a confrontation with him and brandish his pistol and a National Security ID card to threaten anyone who dares to retaliate.
He behaves like a commando and threatens to shoot anyone who disagrees with him, another resident narrated.
Boyo was seen in a video two days ago threatening to shoot a police officer who is the bodyguard of NDC MP for the Constituency, Asawase.
He argued that the MP’s bodyguard should not be at the registration center.
Soldiers, who were wielding machine guns tried to intervene and calm the irate man down but he brandished his pistol and insisted the police officer leaves.
The police say they are investigating the disturbance.
Meanwhile, security expert at the Kofi Annan International Peace Training Centre (KAIPTC) Prof. Kwesi Anin says his sources have revealed that the said Boyo is not a National Security operative.
Prof. Anin has also condemned the MP for stationing his bodyguard at the voters’ registration centre where the brawl took place.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Newsnite Thursday, he commended the soldiers and the policeman for maintaining their cool throughout the episode.
He decried the behaviour of the said operative and questioned the source of his power which emboldened him to prance around in the manner he did.
“My assessment points to the fact that…this is a political operative,” he said.
