The Wa Senior High School Old Students Association (WASOSA) has come to the aid of their alma mater by donating personal protective equipment worth 6,000 Ghana Cedis.
The move according to the Wa Municipal branch chairman of the Old Students' Association, Dr Solomon Dansieh is to compliment the efforts of the government in the fight against the spread of coronavirus.
“A few weeks ago we received an SOS call from the headmaster to assist in acquiring more protective gear and sanitary materials to help in the fight of the public enemy number one of contemporary times, Mr. Corona. We put the request on our various social media platforms and the response was jvery good," he said.
While presenting the PPEs to the school at a short ceremony, Dr Dansieh said encouraged the students to rise above the challenges in their bid to succeed at their final examinations.
He acknowledged that “we are not in the best of times that anyone will wish to be on an educational campus like ours. Parents are anxious, teachers are anxious, students are anxious. But they have to be here as a necessary evil because they need to complete their various syllabi for the final year students to take their exams.”
Wa Municipal Branch Chairman and National Coordinator for Educational Programmes Of WASOSA Dr. Solomon Dansieh presented the personal protective equipment to the school on behalf of the National President of the Association, Robert Yennah.
The items donated included 50 gallons of liquid soap, 150 bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitisers, 30 pieces of face shields and 15 veronica buckets.
He noted that their donation to the school was timeous and of necessity as recent cases of coronavirus in schools has placed a lot of pressure on school authorities to provide enough sanitary facilities for students.
He, however, advised the students to be focused and stay glued to their books and not be involved in any untoward behavior that could affect their performance.
''In your effort to redeem the time that is lost you may want to resort to stimulants and drugs to keep u awake so that you can catch up. Please don’t go that way, we want to appeal to you to manage your time well, relax and study at your own pace and we believe you are going to succeed,'' he added
Headmaster of Wa Senior High School, Simon Yeng thanked the old students for the kind gesture.
He commended them for always coming to the aid of their school when the need be.
