The decision to cancel the 2019/20 football season by Ghana Football Association divided opinions among football stakeholders in Ghana.
A repercussion of that decision was selecting Asante Kotoko and AshGold to represent Ghana in African inter-club competitions next season.
The FA say choosing both teams was “in accordance with the relevant provisions of the CAF inter-club football Regulations”.
Due to this, AshGold will be playing the CAF Confederations Cup next season.
News that has once against split opinions, but this time within the Kumasi-based club.
Newly appointed CEO, Emmanuel Frimpong believes that his side are almost ready to compete with the rest of Africa.
“We are 85% ready for Africa, Our coach has been sending training schedules for the players at home. My players are very ready for anything.”
However, the views of defender Eric Donkor; who played all 15 games in the 2019/20 Premier League; sharply contrasts that of the CEO’s.
“I cannot say that we are ready for Africa because we haven’t played for some time now. You can’t just buy Ronaldo and Messi and be ready”
The Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association will meet on July 14, 2020, to discuss all issues relating to the next football season.
