The Assin South Police is investigation a matter involving a disqualified NPP parliamentary aspirant who allegedly breached the Presidents ban on political rallies.
Joseph Kofi Damtse, who is now vying for the Assin South seat as an independent candidate is reported to have organized a rally Saturday night at Assin Aworoso in the Central Region.
Mr. Damtse stood in the midst of a crowd, making political promises and assuring members of the crowd who had failed to observe proper Covid-19 protocols, of their national cake.
"I ask you to elect an intellectual and someone who cares about your well-being to go for your share of your cake," he said at the rally grounds.
Despite the ban on some political activities in the country, including political rallies which usually require mass gathering, Mr. Damtse proceeded to conduct a rally against the President's directive.
Police in the area say they are investigating the matter.
