Old students of Serwa Nyarko Senior High School have donated some anti-Covid-19 sanitary materials to their alma-mater to keep students and teachers safe from the spread of the coronavirus.
The intervention, according to them, is to augment government’s supplies of safety materials to schools to ensure that students and teachers are safe amid the increase in the national case count.
Headmistress, Esther Gyasi Sarpong who received the items on behalf of the students described the Old Students' gesture as timely and appealed for more sanitary materials to keep the students safe.
"Government has provided us with almost all the safety kits and sanitary materials for students and teachers, but as you know most of the Covid-19 safety kits are consumables; talking of sanitizers, soaps, nose masks, and tissue papers so the Old Girls' additional supplies will really ease our burden of procuring new kits to top up government's supplies."
She also described the gesture as surprising.
"Least did management expect such donation from our own girls. We are very grateful and we will insist the students use the products as they adhere to the Covid-19 safety protocols," she added.
The headmistress told Luv News that there are over 800 form three and form two gold track students under her care. According to her, she is optimistic the donated items will suffice the teachers and students for their five-week stay on campus.
The Old Students' numbering over 30 handed over the sanitary materials and safety kits to the headmistress.
The items included Veronica buckets, reusable face masks, sanitizers, soaps and other safety kits needed on campus to keep both teachers and students safe from contracting the coronavirus.
Leader of the Association, Jacqueline Ama Korsah appealed to old students of Serwa Nyarko Senior High School to come together and support their alma mater.
"We are using this medium to call on all Old Girls of this noble school to join our Facebook page to connect ourselves and chart a course to benefit the school.”
She added that “in abnormal times like this, it is very appropriate for us to come together and give back to the school that made us.”
