The Editor in Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper says damages paid him as part of his recent defamation suit ruling will go to charity.
According to Mr Abdul Malik Kweku Baako, integrity cannot be monetized therefore all he sought prior to the ruling was extraction of some utterances made by the Assin Central legislator, Kennedy Agyapong.
Speaking on NewsFile, Saturday, June 27, Mr. Baako said, “We asked for something but I’m not sure what we asked for was necessarily given to us. Relative to the monetary aspect, the damages, and what we asked for was more important."
"The retraction and the apology on the three platforms, for me was very important and the eventual injunctions against the constant repetition of those obvious untruths or if you like, complete lies.”
He further expressed his satisfaction that he was vindicated by the Court as he believes integrity can never be monetized.
He told host, Samson Lardy Ayenini that “the ¢100,00 is not coming to my pocket, it will definitely go into some charity.”
Kweku Baako earlier this week won a defamation suit against Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong.
This comes after Mr. Baako filed a defamation suit against the outspoken legislator for some alleged defamatory comments against him on various radio stations in the month of July 2018.
Mr. Agyapong was asked by the High Court to pay damage of ¢100,000 with cost of ¢30,000.
